DC pension engagement
  • FTSE business in the financial services sector
  • 2,800 employees across 44 locations
  • Wide staff demographic in terms of age, geography, financial awareness, office and home workers
  • Exercise was to launch the new default investment option and drive increased engagement with the DC pension
  • Programme included:
    • Dedicated brand with launch campaign and merchandise based around fortune cookies and the concept of ‘Don’t leave building your future to fortune’
    • Face to face seminars, live and recorded webinars and online education and event booking site
    • Follow up 1-2-1 financial advice for those requesting it
    • Email communications, hard copy posters in all refreshment areas and toilet door posters
    • Staff aged 55 and above were offered access to Close Brothers UK-wide public retirement seminar programme

DB pension closure
  • FTSE business in communications sector
  • 3,500 employees across 10 locations in the UK, 780 active members in DB pension
  • Wide member demographic. Staff included some very financially savvy individuals, a significant manufacturing contingent, commerce and administration staff
  • The exercise involved closure of the DB scheme, pension reforms communication and the introduction and engagement with the DC pension
  • Programme included:
    • A bespoke online education site containing generic and bespoke content based around the exercise, DB pensions, the pension reforms and the company’s DC pension
    • Rewrite of all content to reflect culture and ‘language’ of the organisation
    • Consultancy on the content of the member communication pack
    • Face to face seminars, live webinars and online event booking site
    • Individual 121 guidance clinics with financial advisers to enable pension modelling and see the impact of contribution rates, retirement age and fund investment choices in the DC pension and their overall pension outcomes
    • Financial advice for those requesting it

Holistic financial education
  • FTSE business in oil and gas sector
  • 6,200 employees across 9 locations in the UK, plus offshore workers and ex-patriates
  • Close Brothers client for > 14 years
  • Important that the provider was an external specialist and had the capability to provide online event booking and financial advice for those that require it
  • It is also important that the programme is inclusive and is available to all staff irrespective of location, pension scheme, age or life stage
  • The programme includes the following:
    • Life-stage based face to face seminars: early career, mid career and late career
    • Rolling programme of live topic-based webinars
    • Online event booking site
    • Dedicated support over the years for key corporate activity including redundancy exercises, site closures, acquisitions and divestments and the closure of a DB scheme for active, deferred and pensioner members
